Project Description
Aden has secured the full groundworks package for the redevelopment of Burnside School on behalf of our client, Morgan Sindall. Burnside PRU currently provides specialist education to approximately 30 pupils aged between 11 and 16 who have experienced significant challenges and exclusion from mainstream education.
Recognised as a priority within the Government’s School Rebuilding Programme, Burnside Secondary has been identified for replacement to ensure the delivery of modern, fit-for-purpose facilities that can better meet the needs of its students.
The new school building will be designed and constructed in line with the Department for Education’s Output Specification and will provide a vibrant, inclusive and supportive environment that helps pupils on their journey back into mainstream education. The development will feature high-quality classrooms, a large hall and fitness suite, a zoned playground, and a multi-use games area. The design will also emphasise sustainability, safeguarding and wellbeing, ensuring that both students and staff benefit from a safe, secure and future-focused learning environment.
Aden’s scope of works will be carried out across three phases, with final completion scheduled for around September 2027. The package includes enabling works, pile mat preparation and pile attendance, construction of pile caps and ground beams, installation of the ground floor slab, drainage infrastructure including two attenuation tanks, as well as all associated services. Additional works will include the provision of a concrete topping to the upper floors and the completion of all external works to support the wider development. Together, our groundworks package will provide the essential foundation for the successful delivery of the new school facilities.
